As one of the winning companies of ‘the Talent has no Gender’ award, LUMIN was recently invited to join a panel of experts at the UN Women’s regional consultation meeting with the private sector in Panama.

LUMIN’s Human Resources Manager, Mara Pisano attended the meeting on behalf of the company, the only Uruguayan representative firm. She joined experts from various countries including Brazil, Argentina, Panama, Jamaica, El Salvador, Colombia, Bolivia, El Salvador, Ecuador, Guatemala, Chile, Costa Rica, Mexico, as well as regional specialists from UN WOMEN and the Regional Director of UN Women for Latin America and the Caribbean, the Uruguayan María Noel Baeza.

This meeting was framed within the UN Women Strategic Plan 2022-2025, which identifies the private sector as one of the key partners to accelerate progress towards achieving gender equality. UN Women recognizes the need for a multi-stakeholder dialogue to develop a strategic approach in its partnerships, considering a gender focused approach to human rights.

The meeting tackled some important topics including: - Internal change and human rights - Working in communities - Investment in civil society - Development programs - Work experiences in gender equality

Mara Pisano highlighted the initiatives in place at LUMIN which are aligned with the principles proposed by UN Women, in particular those linked to the ARCOIRIS Care Center and co-responsibility in care, special leave for mothers and fathers and awareness activities against gender violence among our collaborators and contractors.

These regional consultations are key as their findings help to shape the UN Women’s global strategy around its relationship with the private sector.

This activity contributes to the achievement of the following Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for Development).
