The Director of Unit No. 21 of Artigas, Luis Viera, received a visit from Mara Pisano Rodriguez, HR Manager of LUMIN, located in the department of Tacuarembó. The occasion was marked by a detailed tour of the facilities of the future Unit 21 Detention Center.

For the fourth consecutive year, LUMIN renews its commitment to the National Rehabilitation Institute, an alliance that began in 2020 with the installation of a complete carpentry shop in Unit 26 of Tacuarembó.

Throughout the years, through regular donations of materials, they have trained more than 600 inmates in rapid job placement programs and professional training.

This year, LUMIN expanded its support towards Unit 21 of Artigas, donating tools and machinery to equip a new carpentry shop at the Penitentiary Center. This initiative will allow more than 120 inmates to be trained in carpentry the construction of furniture.

In addition, the company committed to working on the installation of a second Carpentry Shop in the farm annex to serve female inmates and inmates in the maximum-security sector, providing greater opportunities for continuous training and thus contributing to the social and labour reintegration of the inmate population in the department of Artigas.

At the end of the visit, Mara Pisano was received by the Departmental Mayor, who expressed his gratitude and congratulations to the LUMIN Company for its support for the institution of the INR in the department of Artigas.
